Hello my new group of 8th graders! I would like you to take some time this summer to just relax and unwind. Summer work this year will be a bit different from other years. This summer I would like you to read as much as possible. Pick a book or series that interests you and just sit and read. I would also like you to write -- start a journal to write your thoughts, write a poem or a story. Each Monday, I will assign two reading passages on Readworks for you to complete during the week. I will also send a Quill assignment through Google Classroom. If you did not log in on Thursday, the password and username on the ones that you use for Google Classroom. I have sent a link to a Reading log for you to keep track of your summer reading. Before you start, set a goal and challenge yourself to see if you can achieve it. The log is a Google slide. This work will count towards a classwork grade when we return to class.
I have also attached some websites that you might be interested in checking out this summer.
Discovery Ed -- Summer of Learning -- There is a wide variety of activities for you to explore -- museum virtual tours, STEM activities, audiobooks, etc. If the link doesn’t work or you need help, let me know. I check my email daily, even in summer.

If you really enjoy history like I do, then you might want to check this website out. Your parents might need to create an account for you. They are running some online courses for students this summer. I am taking one of their online courses too.
Spend some time with your family and outside! See you in September!
